About

me I’m Cameron Hummels.  I am a PhD student in Astronomy at Columbia University, where I research explosions on the Moon as well as how galaxies form and change over cosmological time.  In addition, I run the Public Outreach program for our department, where we host a variety of free educational activities in New York City involving telescopes, lectures, astrophotography and the like.

I also like to travel a lot.  I’ve had the opportunity to visit many places around the globe, and I like to share my experiences with others. Unfortunately, I’m not always good about updating my blog with the photographs and explanations of my destinations. I hope to eventually get them all up on here!
